How to Lose Weight Quickly

A rapid weight loss program will require significant changes in your life if it is to be successful. Weight loss plans should be successful for whoever tries them but it is often the determination level of people that lets them down; below are a few things to think about when you start your weight loss plan. The factors that dictate the speed at which a person sheds pounds is quite complex; for example:

* Previous mental conditioning * Genetics * A Positive or Negative Attitude

Excessive weight causes many problems; some but not all are physical aspects. Whilst the number of physical and mental effects on an overweight person is great, it is amazing how these can be turned around when a person starts to lose weight. It must be said that most rapid weight loss programs will require some form of emotional support from close friends or relatives; regular exercise and a healthy nutritious diet are also going to be part of this plan. The diet plan must be flexible to your tastes other wise it will fail, put aside at least a quarter of an hour every day to carry out some form of physical activity like brisk walking, running or other type of cardiovascular exercise.

Do not worry if your weight loss plan is not producing results as quickly as you would like; everyone has a different metabolism and some will see results faster than others; this is perfectly natural so do not become despondent. In instances like these it is best to substitute a more rigorous exercise program to compensate and learn to listen to your body and adjust your diet plan accordingly. If you find a plan isn’t working as it should then perhaps you will need to change the diet plan as each person’s metabolism is different and you cannot expect every diet plan to work.

You may find that you are more comfortable walking than any other form of exercise; however, try to improve the pace you walk at as your diet progresses, remembering that you will look better when your fat is converted into muscle. Exercise often means a great deal of body fluids are lost and need to be replaced; whether on a rapid weight loss program or not, don’t forget the benefits of at least six 8oz glasses of water each day because it also flushes out nasty toxins as well. Avoid fat drenched deep fried foods which can also mean fish and chicken if you are eating the wrong part of the animal.

It is recommended for those on a strict diet to opt for grilled food as this contains a smaller amount of fat after the food has been cooked. It is not a good idea to cut out carbohydrates altogether as they are the fuel your body needs to keep going. By sticking to this type of plan you can expect to lose around a pound in weight per day but bear in mind that once you stop, the weight will go back on again.

Weight Loss Secrets - Winning The Battle

Smoothies No Comments »

by Jasper Dildy

Losing weight seems like a huge struggle for many people today, and the huge number of different weight loss plans isn’t helping the situation any.

We used to think that eating low fat is most important, but now we hear eating low-carb is more important.

Some plans say to cut a meal or two out, but others say eat more meals daily.

Some promote dietary supplements, others doing it with diet changes.

Even the type of exercise people suggest varies.

But other factors may come into play besides the usual diet and exercise strategies, for some people to lose weight and keep it off.

We now know that some of the foods we eat are resulting in digestive problems that make weight loss a bigger problem than simply changing our diet a bit, or exercising more. Research released recently by Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst supports this.

Plaque and parasites in the stomach and colon are known to make weight loss a much bigger issue for some people, even if they are exercising more and eating less.

By making some simple changes to your daily routine, you can address these problems once and for all, and finally lose the weight you may have been struggling with for so long and not understanding why it was such a struggle.

There is no “magic pill” when it comes to weight loss, but there are solid facts.

Food choices are of course still important, such as keeping the amount of certain carbohydrates in our diet to a reasonable level.

Exercising every day will always be an important part of a diet plan, of course.

These exercise and food choices won’t be effective, however, till we deal with any digestive issues as discussed above.

Eating Disorders - Are You At Risk Of Developing One?

Smoothies No Comments »

by Kim Archer

Some girls are perfectly content with their bodies, but there are others who are never satisfied. There is much more to it than self-loathing; there are many reasons someone might be more likely to have an eating disorder.

Gender is definitely an influence in whether or not you’ll tend to develop an eating disorder. Even though women still outnumber men, the number of young males diagnosed with eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia is rising at a distressing rate.

Your age is another consideration. No one is impervious to having an eating disorder - they can even arise at some point in middle age. But most commonly, the problem starts much sooner, usually in adolescence or your early twenties.

Your chance of developing an eating disorder increases greatly if a family member also suffers from a disorder. You might think it would influence you in the opposite direction, but instead it sometimes makes it socially acceptable.

A person who has a mental disorder such as an OCD can also suffer an eating disorder, as controlling food and eating is another way to control the world around them. Similarly, there is an increased rate of eating disorders in women suffering from depression or anxiety.

Another risk factor is having a fixation with exercise. If you’re overdoing it at the gym or you participate in competitive athletics, then you could be more likely to develop an eating disorder because you incorrectly think that depriving your body of food will improve your performance.

And let’s not forget the peer influences that shape the way we think about ourselves. Many body-wrecking eating disorders started with a parent or sibling half jokingly stating that the person in question needed to go on a diet.

If you happen to fall into any of the above categories, you should take steps to ensure that you won’t fall victim to an eating disorder - or if you already suffer from one, prevent the condition from worsening. Ask your doctor what a healthy weight is for your body type and how best to maintain it.

Work on building your self esteem and confidence and try to avoid people who criticize you all of the time. Don’t listen to these bad influences that are driving you to an eating disorder.

Don’t get caught up in the fantasy of looking like a supermodel off the cover of Vogue magazine; it is far better to focus on becoming a beautiful person on the inside. Advances in technology allow the editors to remove imperfections from these beautiful models (who are, understandably, grateful).

The Supposed Hoodia Oprah Connection Exposed

Smoothies No Comments »

by Reagan Miers

When surfing the Internet for hoodia gordonii, you may have read there is a hoodia Oprah connection. You may have seen websites that claim Oprah uses hoodia, or that she has endorsed a particular hoodia product on her show. Would it surprise you to hear that these statements may not be true?

I’ve seen some claims that hoodia was “seen on Oprah” or that “Oprah uses hoodia,” but I haven’t seen any evidence to support these claims. I’ve never heard of hoodia being featured on her television show nor have I read anything that supports the claims that she has used it. In fact, if you go to her website and search for the term, “hoodia” or “hoodia Oprah” you don’t get any search results. Until I can find concrete evidence that she talked about it on her television show or that she uses it, I don’t believe there is any Oprah hoodia connection as far as her television show is concerned.

Many of the websites that are using Oprah’s name point to an article that ran in Oprah’s magazine July 2005 issue. The article they reference from O is titled, “Diet Pills: The Next Generation.” I wanted to read this article, but was unable to find an archive copy of it. So, I went on eBay and purchased the magazine. I wanted to read for myself what exactly Oprah “said” about the weight loss supplement. I was surprised at what I found.

At first, the picture that accompanied the article made me think that there possibly could be a hoodia Oprah connection. The picture was of a San tribe member and I immediately recognized a piece of the hoodia gordonii plant that he was holding. But, after reading the entire text of the article, I can firmly say there is no hoodia Oprah connection in it. There were no statements by Oprah in the article and the article itself was written by someone else.

The first two paragraphs of the article discussed the history of the plant and its popularity in the weight loss industry. Yet, the article in O didn’t speak very favorably of hoodia weight loss supplements and said, “So far, however, there’s little proof that the supplements are even mildly effective: Most contain only small, probably insignificant levels of Hoodia extract” If anything, if I didn’t know better, this article would make me doubt the benefits of hoodia gordonii supplements, though no brand was mentioned.

The remaining text of the piece talks about the race between pharmaceutical firms to discover the latest miracle weight loss supplement. There is no mention of hoodia gordonii past the first two paragraphs. As you can see, the magazine does not mention a hoodia Oprah connection, or endorse that Oprah uses the weight loss supplement herself.

What I’m surprised is that Oprah’s legal department hasn’t come down hard on these websites that use her name and her magazine as an endorsement for hoodia. Often times these websites twist the magazine article so far that they make it sound like Oprah herself endorsed their brand of hoodia in her magazine. The next time you see claims that Oprah endorses hoodia or that there is some kind of hoodia Oprah connection, you’ll know the truth.
